The Unscary Sing Thing

The Unscary Sing Thing

Joyful and totally unscary workshop with Rose Wilson

Sat 6 July – 2.00 pm
Long Gallery, Salamanca Arts Centre
From $37

Part group singing lesson, part choir session and all joyful and totally unscary, The Unscary Sing Thing is filled with practical tips, beautiful songs and ideas to take with you into your life.

We’ll pull apart singing baggage and learn useful and impactful vocal techniques for both solo and ensemble singing. We’ll learn effective and enjoyable warm-ups, little songs to weave into your day, harmony choir songs and some singalong moments as we explore simple and practical vocal techniques to help you understand and develop your voice.

The workshop is for all humans of any experience level, from absolute beginners to those who just can’t seem to stop themselves from singing.

Rose Wilson

Rose Wilson is a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, singing teacher and generally enthusiastic human.

Rose holds a Bachelor of Music with a major in vocal performance, has taught singing and choirs for over 20 years, and has always delighted in singing in as many different styles and exploring as many different instruments as possible.

Rose can wax lyrical for hours about all the reasons why everyone is allowed to sing (whether they think they're any good or not), about why it’s learnable, and about how our culture often robs us of the delight of singing-making under the weight of its various baggages around all things creative.

Rose loves community choirs and considers singing in one of the most soul-affirming, meaning-making, people-connecting and joy-inducing things a human can do. Rose has run choirs and workshops in many places, and currently runs three choirs in the Huon Valley; The Cygnet Song Circle, The Little Boat Choir, and the Huon Homeschool Choir.
