Song Trivia & Regional Singers’ Lounge

Song Trivia & Singers’ Lounge

What do you get when you combine trivia and singing?

Sat 29 June – 4.00 pm
Palais Theatre, Franklin
From $23
Early bird tickets are sold out

Our popular Song Trivia event is back, still hosted by the energetic Vicky Jacobs from Glee Club with her choir, Glee Plus. But this time, we’re also visiting the Palais Theatre in Franklin, where we’re joined by local Cygnet musician Rose Wilson and her choirs the Cygnet Song Circle and The Little Boat Choir!

It’s not just about music trivia – we’ve got questions about history, culture, travel, and science too, so there’s something for everyone to enjoy. What makes our trivia nights special are the choirs, who will sing some of the questions, answers, and even bits in between! And, of course, it wouldn’t be a Festival of Voices event without the opportunity for a singalong. So, if you feel like joining in, be sure to warm up your vocal cords!

Everyone is welcome at this all-ages event, and drinks and snacks will be available for purchase**. Whether you’re flying solo or coming with a crew (teams must be 8 or fewer people), grab your individual tickets below and join the fun!

Plus, your Song Trivia ticket includes free access to that evening’s regional Singers’ Lounge! From 6.30 pm, the Palais Theatre will become a special evening of curated and spontaneous musical performances. Enjoy sitting back and listening or even express your interest in performing as part of the night’s lineup. With something for everyone at Song Trivia and Singers’ Lounge, don’t miss out on this event that sells out every year.

To express your interest in performing as part of this regional Singers’ Lounge, contact Rose at [email protected]

**Peregrine School will be selling delicious snack food during Song Trivia at the Palais Theatre from 4-6pm and Cantina de Valle will be serving dinner from 5.30-8.30pm.
Drinks are available for purchase from the bar inside the Theatre supplied by Way Down South Arts.

Rose Wilson

Rose Wilson is a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, singing teacher and generally enthusiastic human.

Rose holds a Bachelor of Music with a major in vocal performance, has taught singing and choirs for over 20 years, and has always delighted in singing in as many different styles and exploring as many different instruments as possible.

Rose can wax lyrical for hours about all the reasons why everyone is allowed to sing (whether they think they're any good or not), about why it’s learnable, and about how our culture often robs us of the delight of singing-making under the weight of its various baggages around all things creative.

Rose loves community choirs and considers singing in one of the most soul-affirming, meaning-making, people-connecting and joy-inducing things a human can do. Rose has run choirs and workshops in many places, and currently runs three choirs in the Huon Valley; The Cygnet Song Circle, The Little Boat Choir, and the Huon Homeschool Choir.

Glee Plus

Glee Plus are a 60 voice choir who get together every week in Southbank, Melbourne. They are a part of Glee Club Singing which hosts singalongs and choirs across Victoria and Tasmania. Glee Plus are conducted by Vicky Jacobs and have just celebrated their tenth anniversary of making music together. There are never any auditions at Glee Plus - just a willingness to do a bit of practice and throw yourself in to our raft of quirky performances!

The Cygnet Song Circle

The Cygnet Song Circle is a community choir led by choir-human Rose Wilson. The choir sings acapella songs in many varied styles, all with much vigour and joy. There are no auditions, no expectation of anyone ever singing by themself or reading music (unless they want to) and rehearsals and performances alike are warm-hearted, welcoming and enlivening things. We sing together on Tuesday nights in Cygnet, and all are welcome to join us. More info at www.cygnetsongcircle.com.au

Little Boat Choir

The Little Boat Choir is a community acapella choir based in Franklin and led by Rose Wilson. Little Boat Choir has been singing together for almost a decade, for most of that time under founding director Tiffany Eckhardt. Rose now leads the choir, where she delights in creating warm, safe and satisfying musical experiences for people to share in. More info at www.littleboatchoir.com.au
