Internationally sought-after clinician, composer, arranger and a cappella expert Deke Sharon, known widely for his work as music director on Pitch Perfect, will return in July 2024 for our popular A Cappella Workshop. Expect to be surprised, challenged and astounded in this extraordinary four-day workshop as you explore a range of topics on the journey to singing in a tight ensemble and putting on a great show.
Both individuals and choirs are welcome to take part in this exciting adventure through the glorious world of a cappella singing. Deke’s extraordinary ability and experience performing, recording and teaching will help you redefine your expectations of what you can achieve with your own voice.
To celebrate the outcome of the A Cappella Workshop, participants will perform at the A Cappella Spectacular on Friday 5 July at Hobart’s Federation Concert Hall.
Deke’s selected repertoire includes a range of upbeat, fun and energetic pieces that you are bound to know and love.
What's included?
This fee will cover the cost of your music and learning files, festival accreditation, networking opportunities and special accommodation rates. Workshop participants will also receive discounted admission to a special singalong event with Deke at 7.30pm on Wednesday 3 July.
Who should register?
At least a basic level of music reading and a sense of fun is required for participating in this workshop. Music scores will be emailed to participants in advance – we encourage familiarity with Deke’s chosen music prior to the workshop and be prepared to groove!

He has arranged thousands of songs, produced dozens of award-winning albums, and written seven books. He was the vocal orchestrater and a producer of the first a cappella musical on Broadway “In Transit” and the opening number of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s new musical “Unmasked.” He’s a frequent emcee at events and gives corporate speeches on business lessons from vocal harmony to companies like Google and Facebook.
