2025 Corporate Choir Challenge registration
Continuing our mission to get workplaces singing!
$1,700 per choir
Venue to be confirmed
The Corporate Choir Challenge was introduced to the Festival of Voices’ program in 2019 to encourage workplace team members to come together and experience the powerful benefits of group singing.
Group singing has extensive benefits and, when applied to a workplace context, includes enhanced productivity, wellbeing, collegiality, and job satisfaction. Our program blends learning, development, and performance with all teaching and support provided by the Festival.
We invite you and your team, office, organisation, or committee to form a choir, select a song from our carefully curated list, and enrol in our coaching and rehearsal program led by dedicated choral coaches. Then, perform your song live onstage for an audience and selected judges! Experience the excitement of performing, and you might even take home one of our awards presented on the night.
Many workplace participants report a renewed love of singing and stronger connections with colleagues through this shared experience, and some have continued singing together regularly throughout the year.
In 2025, we’re offering 15 organisations the opportunity to participate.
You’ll have the support and coaching from our Corporate Choir Challenge producer, Johanna van Tienen, which can be tailored to suit your team’s needs.
Supporting the local community through fundraising
Over the last couple of years, the Corporate Choir Challenge has raised $21,300 through workplace participation, which in 2022, 2023 and 2024 has gone directly to our community partner, Hobart City Mission.
In 2025, teams can choose to fundraise with our partner, Hobart City Mission, or nominate their chosen charity partner. For further information, contact [email protected].

Corporate Choir Challenge FAQs

- We’d love to help resource you for this. Let’s chat further! Email [email protected]
Do we have to be able to sing?
- You just have to be willing to try! Singing in a group is about community and collaboration, and these are the primary focus of The Corporate Choir Challenge! Even if you feel like you can’t sing, we encourage participation anyway! Chat with us further – it’s a great night.
What kind of time commitment are we looking at?
- In general, groups will rehearse for around 1 hour weekly, for 12-14 weeks prior to the performance. There is an additional rehearsal in the week prior to the performance, to get used to the performance venue. The concert will run for approximately 2 hours.
Why has the registration fee to participate increased each year?
- To continue offering this program, we need to cover rising costs. The annual fee adjustments reflect these increasing expenses.

Testimonials
“I’ve loved being able to see progress from week to week and see the joy and pride develop in the group as we’ve learned the song together. As a life-long choir tragic, I think singing in a choir is one of the greatest joys in life and I’ve absolutely loved being able to share and facilitate that joy with a brand-new group of singers.”
– Danni – choir leader (‘The Power Chords ‘ – Hydro Tasmania)
“The choir has had fun shaking off the school day coming together to sing. We’ve enjoyed learning something different – stretching and challenging ourselves. Our choir is made up of new and experienced singers, with some this is their first time singing in front of a group.
Random segments of the song have been heard from places that you would least expect, including the odd look or two from students who may or may not have heard a bit more of the song than they wanted to in the corridors.”
– Chris – choir leader (The Friends School)
“Our weekly rehearsals have been a place to connect, bond and share an experience that has become its own sort of therapy for the team at the end of a long day. It’s not uncommon at rehearsals to hear… “this is just what I needed’.”
– Tom – choir leader (Sexual Assault Support Services)
“The greatest joy for this choir has once again been the connection, sheer fun, and the unwavering support they’ve given each other. Their fundraising efforts have fostered a sense of community, and they now enjoy a camaraderie that can only come from a mutual dedication to having fun and embracing their inner fools!”
– Sam – choir leader (‘A Choired Taste’ – Department of Natural Resources & Environment)
“The greatest joy is coming together for the common goal of meeting new people, representing our Department, having fun and sharing kindness with people. It’s easy to be caught up in our daily lives but getting to spend an hour at choir each week has been an uplifting and joyful break from the normal day-to-day.
Corporate choir is all about Connections. Connections with amazing people from across a very large department, connecting the joy of singing, working and laughing together.
The start of the process was overwhelming but as we progressed, it became more and more exciting and we became more and more confident! Each individual in this choir group has also been Courageous – from signing up, to turning up to practices, rehearsals and finally the big day!”
– Erin – choir leader (‘DECYPBels’ – Department of Education, Children and Young People)
“We set up the choir last year specifically for the Corporate Choir Challenge for Festival of Voices, and I think setting up the choir and singing was an excellent thing to do, it certainly really bound us all together and provided connectedness. We would love to see more people joining our choir and singing with us!”
– Jen – choir member (‘MediSing’ – Royal Hobart Hospital Emergency Department)
“Feel the thrill of overcoming nerves and belting out a powerful tune as you and your choir buddies rise together to reach new vocal heights!”
– Grant – choir member (‘DECYPBels’ – Department of Education, Children and Young People)
“It was such a beautiful bonding experience for us as a team and we’re still so happy with how it unfolded!”
– Annie – choir leader (‘Tourhythm Jazzmania’ – Tourism Tasmania)
