    Young Tasmania Sings Registrations

Bringing young singers together in a co-operative, non-competitive performance environment.

Now in its 14th year, the beloved Young Tasmania Sings event will be held in Hobart over two nights in the last week of Term 2.  School and community youth choirs are invited to register to join the combined choirs to sing in a massed choir of approximately 250 singers.

Young Tasmania Sings rehearsals and performances will take place in the majestic Hobart City Hall. Those in the combined choirs will sing six songs under the direction of special guest conductor Annie Kwok (SA). The experience for young singers will include a collaboration with the Tasmanian Youth Orchestra, and the opportunity to hear some wonderful guest youth choirs.

Participation in Young Tasmania Sings requires preparation of the music in advance and attendance at two rehearsal days immediately leading up to the performance.  Participating choirs will sing at one of the two Young Tasmania Sings concert evenings.

Members of the combined choirs should be in years 5 to 8, with unchanged voices.

Participating choirs will receive copies of the selected repertoire, along with audio files to help learn the songs.  Music will be distributed upon confirmation of registration, and rehearsal tracks will be available at the start of the 2025 school year.

    • Is a rewarding, satisfying and memorable music experience for young singers.

    Testimonials

If you run a primary or middle school choir in Tasmania, I can highly recommend that you participate in “Young Tasmania Sings”. I don’t know of a better experience you could give your young choristers, not to mention providing a valuable PD opportunity for yourself. The FOV source leading choral conductors who are incredibly inspiring to watch, totally engaging for the kids and the showcase performance at the end will be one of those special events that you and your students will never forget!
    – Jillian Norton, Music Teacher and Choir Director, St Virgil’s College

The Tasmania Sings concert has become an annual highlight for my choir since they first participated in 2018. Preparing them for this has been made easy with the learning tracks provided and the choice of music has always been great. The joy on the faces of my students when they’re rehearsing and performing, serves as a strong reminder of why I love doing what I do.
    – Peter Eddleston, Music Teacher and Choir Director, Albuera Street & South Hobart Primary Schools

Young Tasmania Sings was a great experience. I’m glad I did it because I was full of joy and happiness and my parents were proud that I took the opportunity.

Singing at the Festival of Voices was an incredible experience. It was amazing to come together with students from different schools and backgrounds, all sharing a common love for music. The experience was not only musically enriching but also incredibly heartwarming. Singing alongside others created a powerful sense of community and belonging that I’ll always treasure.

Young Tasmania Sings was an incredible experience, since many people from different backgrounds got together to make incredible music. I enjoyed the two days of rehearsal immensely and strongly believe that it helped to improve my singing ability, along with social connections.
