DENNI (Madam pakana)
Truwulway multi-disciplinary artist
Proud truwulway woman and multidisciplinary artist DENNI – known also as her moniker Madam pakana – stands as one of Lutruwita/Tasmania’s most powerful and authentic musical voices. A pioneer in contemporary Australian music, DENNI is known for fusing palawa kani (Tasmanian Aboriginal Language) with electronic hip-hop and indie folk sounds to tell stories that celebrate and reclaim First Nations culture.
DENNI’s music is unapologetically bold, rich with meaning, and unmistakably her own. Tracks like ‘Strongest Mob’ and ‘Lutruwita’ have become anthems for a new generation of proud, culturally connected young people. Through these works, she continues to break new ground by threading language and cultural identity into compelling modern compositions.
With more than a decade of national performances under her belt, DENNI is a seasoned live artist and festival favourite. She’s appeared at some of Australia’s most beloved events, including GARMA, Festival of Voices, Dark Mofo, Mona Foma, Falls Festival, A Festival Called Panama, and many more. Whether weaving bluesy guitar licks into lush electronic beats or switching seamlessly between English and palawa kani, DENNI brings a dynamic presence to the stage that is both deeply grounded and forward-looking.
As both a solo artist and a collaborative force, DENNI continues to evolve – now embracing the full power of hip-hop and electronic production while maintaining the soulful songwriting roots that first shaped her voice.
She is Madam pakana. She is DENNI. And she is not to be missed.
