Voices on the Road – East Coast Tour

Voices on the Road is for anyone who loves to explore, connect, and share in the simple joy of singing – no experience required!

You might be joining with your choir mates who are performing in the 2026 Festival program, travelling solo as part of your visit to Tasmania, or coming along with a partner or friend (even if one or both of you don’t sing!). You might even be a Tassie local keen on a little staycation. These tours are designed for all of you!

What makes Voices on the Road different from other Tasmanian tours is the chance to sing together in beautiful, unique places as part of your journey. But you don’t need to read music, or even plan to sing every time – you’re just as welcome to listen, take it in, and enjoy the shared experience.

We’ve created these tours to be inclusive, relaxed and complementary to the Festival of Voices program, so you can experience more of what Tasmania has to offer without missing a moment of the Festival itself.

What is Voices on the Road? 

Voices on the Road is a new Festival of Voices touring experience – a three-day journey that combines travel, community, and the joy of singing together. Each tour visits a different region of Tasmania, discovering places that are sometimes off the tourist map, while also connecting with locals through music, nature, and shared experiences.  

What is the minimum age to participate 

We don’t have a set minimum age; however, ticket prices are based on per seat, not per age, and are already subsidised, so there are no concession tickets.  

Do I need to be an experienced singer to join? 

Absolutely not! Singing is encouraged but never compulsory. These tours are designed to be low-pressure and accessible for everyone – from lifelong choir members to people who’ve never sung outside their shower. 

What kind of singing will we do? 

The singing will mostly be spontaneous, guided by the places we visit and the mood of the group. There will also be a few planned moments to sing in unique locations – and perhaps alongside local choirs or community groups. All singing will be a cappella, and we’ll share a simple repertoire with participants before the tour begins. 

How long are the tours? 

Each itinerary runs for three days. 

• South and East Coast tours will run before the Festival (30 June – 2 July) 
• North and North West will run after the Festival (13 – 15 July) 

Each one explores a different region of Tasmania, offering a distinct experience of landscape, culture, and song.  

What’s included in the ticket price? 

Your ticket will include: 

• Coach travel across the three days 
• Scheduled experiences and activities 
• Coordination and on-ground support from the Festival team 

How will accommodation and meals work? 

Accommodation can be booked through our platform directly, with guidance and recommendations provided in each region to help you select options that suit your budget and preferences. Should you be interested in different room types at one of our recommended accommodation partners, you can of course also book directly through them. Some meals and refreshments are included in the itinerary, which we’ll confirm the details once the final schedule is released.

Where do the tours start and finish? 

Starts at Launceston Airport/CBD and concludes at Hobart CBD. 

Can I come on my own? 

Absolutely! Voices on the Road is designed for solo travellers as much as for friends or small groups. You’ll quickly find yourself part of a welcoming community of fellow travellers and singers – many of whom come to Festival of Voices for connection as much as the music itself. 

What should I bring?  

We’ll provide a suggested packing list once itineraries are confirmed, but generally: 

• Comfortable clothes and shoes for light walking 
• A reusable water bottle 
• Weather-appropriate layers (Tasmania can be unpredictable!) 
• A small folder or device for song lyrics 
• A sense of curiosity, flexibility, and fun 

Is the tour accessible? 

Accessibility is a key focus. Each itinerary will include details about mobility, terrain, and physical requirements. Please let us know at the time of booking if you have accessibility or dietary needs, and we’ll do everything possible to accommodate them. 

Who will lead the tour? 

Each itinerary will have a dedicated tour host – your guide throughout the journey. They’ll handle coordination, communication, and ensure the experience runs smoothly from start to finish. If you or anyone you know sounds like a good fit for this role, please contact us at [email protected]. 

What if the weather isn’t great? 

Tasmania’s weather can shift quickly, but that’s part of its charm! Each itinerary includes flexible plans with indoor and outdoor options, so singing and exploration can continue rain, shine, or mist. 

Can I join more than one tour? 

Yes! You can absolutely join multiple tours. For example, you might participate in one of the pre-Festival tours (June 30–July 2) and another after the Festival (July 13–15). Each region offers a different slice of Tasmania, so why not see more! 

Can dietary requirements be accommodated? 

Yes, most dietary requirements can be accommodated for any included meals or refreshments. Please specify your needs during expression of interest/booking so we can liaise with venues and partners in advance. 

Can I bring my whole choir or a larger group on a tour?

Yes. We welcome enquiries from choirs and larger groups. Availability may vary by tour, so if you’re interested in bringing a group, please contact [email protected] to discuss options and requirements.

Can I bring instruments or recording equipment? 

You’re welcome to bring small, portable instruments (like a ukulele or shaker), but please keep in mind that luggage space on the coach is limited. Out of respect for privacy, professional audio or video recording during the tours isn’t permitted without prior approval.  

Will there be free time on the trip? 

Yes. Each itinerary will include some flexible time for rest, personal exploration, or simply enjoying the surroundings at your own pace. 

How physically demanding is the tour? 

Each itinerary includes light walking and some time spent outdoors, but it’s designed to be accessible for most needs.

Festival of Voices does not provide supervision of children 15 years and younger. A supervising adult must accompany all children requiring supervision at all times and may be refused admission or attendance if not accompanied by an adult who is also registered for this workshop.

You can add accommodation at the time of booking through our ticketing system, selecting your preferred hotel as an add-on.

Alternatively, you’re welcome to book directly with the hotel if you’d prefer to organise a different room type.
