TUCK SHOP LADIES: All Rhyme, No Reason

    Harmonies, humour and ukulele-fuelled mayhem

Ever wondered why there are no baby pigeons? Or what it’s like to be a lesbian bank robber? Tuck Shop Ladies explore these and a few other pertinent issues in life with nothing but a couple of ukuleles, three chords, and the truth.

Formed in 2019, the dynamic folk duo comprises Australian music darlings Sam Lohs (Fruit) and Rosie Burgess (Rosie Burgess Trio). Armed with sharp wit, infectious humour, and the ever-present ukulele, they turn everyday moments into comedic gold. Their performances mix quirky, heartfelt tunes with a splash of social commentary—equal parts crowd-pleasing fun and insightful laughs.

Their music, born from life on the road and the often ridiculous but always harmonious moments shared in the back of a tour van, has won the hearts of audiences across the country. As they explore the absurdities of daily life and the personal relationships of touring musicians, they invite you into their wonderful world, leaving you wanting to run away on tour with the band.

With clever lyrics, strong harmonies, and undeniable chemistry, Tuck Shop Ladies have earned glowing reviews for their ability to engage and entertain. Miss Chatelaine from Joy FM raves, “I love comedy-music duos, and Tuck Shop Ladies are my new favourites!”.

Chris Thompson from Vision Australia Radio sums it up perfectly: You get a lot more than your average school lunch from these Tuck Shop Ladies… their songs are a smorgasbord of sly observation, toe-tapping tunes, and hilarious lyrics, all delivered with sharp wit and deadly accurate ukuleles.

    Our pricing model

As a non-profit, we prioritise bringing singing and music to our communities, not maximising income. We work to make our ticket prices as affordable as possible, and we’ve shifted to an early bird pricing model instead of concession pricing. This change focuses on equity, allowing everyone to secure tickets at a reduced price and helping us keep the festival accessible to as many people as possible.

Each event will have a set number of tickets available at the early bird price. Once these are sold, standard prices will apply. This ensures we can cover event costs while keeping the festival sustainable and maintaining affordable options for our audiences.
