Fool For You: Songs of Love and Heartbreak

Monique Brumby and David Bridie duet in celebration of nearly 30 years

Fool For You was the first single released by Monique Brumby in 1996. It was nominated for three ARIA Music Awards and won Best New Talent. Produced by the celebrated David Bridie (Not Drowning, Waving and My Friend the Chocolate Cake), the song marked the beginning of an incredible creative partnership. Nearly 30 years later, Monique and David are celebrating their first collaboration through Fool For You: Songs of Love & Heartbreak, where they’ll not only perform some of their most iconic duets but also reflect on their musical journeys through the stories behind their songs of love, heartbreak, and creative collaboration.

Monique looks back on their enduring partnership fondly: Me and my mate David Bridie have been connected through music for 30 years. Making my first album, I couldn’t have asked for a better producer.” Their collaboration has been built on trust, respect, and a shared love for crafting music that resonates deeply with audiences.

Fans continue to praise their performances. One attendee from a recent show shared: “Monique’s energy is infectious, and the connection between her and David is pure magic. Their chemistry on stage makes every moment unforgettable.” Another audience member described the experience as “moving” and “full of passion,” with their live shows offering a deep sense of connection between the artists and the crowd.

This special performance will feature their timeless duets and offer intimate insights into the process of writing and producing these unforgettable songs. Joining them for this incredible evening is renowned screen composer and guitarist Thomas Rouch, whose musical brilliance will add another layer of depth to the performance.

Whether you’re a long-time fan or discovering their music for the first time, Fool For You: Songs of Love & Heartbreak promises to be an unforgettable night, filled with powerful performances, personal stories, and a unique celebration of two of Australia’s finest musical talents.

    Our pricing model

As a non-profit, we prioritise bringing singing and music to our communities, not maximising income. We work to make our ticket prices as affordable as possible, and we’ve shifted to an early bird pricing model instead of concession pricing. This change focuses on equity, allowing everyone to secure tickets at a reduced price and helping us keep the festival accessible to as many people as possible.

Each event will have a set number of tickets available at the early bird price. Once these are sold, standard prices will apply. This ensures we can cover event costs while keeping the festival sustainable and maintaining affordable options for our audiences.
