Festival of Voices

    Handel – Dixit Dominus

Dr Elizabeth Scott returns to conduct Handel's baroque tour de force.

Experience the exhilarating power of Handel at Festival of Voices, as acclaimed conductor Dr Elizabeth Scott leads a spectacular celebration of baroque choral music.

At the heart of the concert is Dixit Dominus, the astonishing masterpiece Handel wrote at just 22 years of age.  It is a work of blazing energy, virtuosic choral writing and dramatic intensity. Performed by the 120 singers of the Festival’s Classical Choral Workshop, this electrifying rendition is brought to life with local soloists and members of the Hobart Chamber Orchestra, and Hobart Wind Symphony, creating a sound of thrilling scale and brilliance.

The program also features the iconic coronation anthem Zadok the Priest, performed by the Come Sing Handel Choir, delivering all the ceremonial splendour and spine-tingling excitement for which the work is famed.

The concert reaches its joyous finale as the choirs unite in a massed performance of Handel’s beloved Hallelujah Chorus.  This is sure to be an unforgettable Festival of Voices moment that invites audiences to share in the sheer exhilaration of this timeless music.

Bold, uplifting and unmissable, this concert will be a triumphant highlight of the Festival of Voices and a must for lovers of great choral music.

    Our pricing model

As a non-profit, we prioritise bringing singing and music to our communities, not maximising income. We work to make our ticket prices as affordable as possible, and we’ve shifted to an early bird pricing model instead of concession pricing. This change focuses on equity, allowing everyone to secure tickets at a reduced price and helping us keep the festival accessible to as many people as possible.

Each event will have a set number of tickets available at the early bird price. Once these are sold, standard prices will apply. This ensures we can cover event costs while keeping the festival sustainable and maintaining affordable options for our audiences.
