Festival of Voices

    Sydney Voices

    Mixed voice choir (NSW)

Sydney Voices is a mixed SATB a cappella choir drawn from across Greater Sydney. Formed in 2009 and previously known as Sydney Vocal Project, the ensemble brings together singers of varied backgrounds who share a love of musical challenge, strong ensemble work, and the joy of singing together. While close to 30 singers make up the wider group, approximately 20 will attend Festival of Voices 2026.

Their repertoire is intentionally diverse, spanning classical, contemporary, jazz, gospel, and popular choral works. Singers enjoy engaging with technically demanding arrangements alongside accessible and expressive repertoire, valuing both musical precision and emotional connection. Rehearsals are characterised by a strong sense of community, plenty of laughter, and a shared commitment to learning and musical growth.

Sydney Voices performs regularly in annual concerts and has appeared at events such as the Blackheath Choir Festival, as well as community performances, including carols for the City of Canada Bay. The choir is led by musical director James Paul, a respected conductor and arranger within the Sydney choral community, whose leadership supports both artistic excellence and an inclusive ensemble culture.
