Peace ‘n’ Choir
Mixed voice choir (QLD)
Peace ‘n’ Choir is an a cappella choir originating for the enjoyment of the Mt Nebo and Mt Glorious communities located on the outskirts of Brisbane. Over the 30 years of music making, the choir has grown to include members from the surrounding areas including the Samford valley and Brisbane suburbs.
Peace ‘n’ Choir is a non-auditioned community choir, welcoming everyone in the understanding that singing is our birthright that everyone can contribute to the whole in a positive way. Their repertoire is drawn from diverse vocal and cultural traditions as well as contemporary music.
They regularly perform at local community events at Mt Nebo, and around Brisbane. Performances over the years have included Woodford Festival as well as other southeastern Queensland festivals at Neurum Creek and Maleny. In 2024, they travelled to Hobart for Festival of Voices.
The core of Peace ‘n’ Choir’s musical themes is a love and respect for the natural environment and a celebration of the human spirit.
Their common thread is the camaraderie of the group and musical director Ann Bermingham who unifies them in creative direction that is thoughtful and respected by the wider musical community.
