Composer & Conductor (QLD)
John Rotar (b. 1995), described by Limelight magazine as a ‘talented and innovative composer’, is a Brisbane based composer and conductor. John has had over 140 orchestral, choral, chamber and solo works performed by many leading arts organisations across Australia, Europe and North America. John’s compositional work has garnered him numerous awards, scholarships and compositional residencies, both nationally and internationally.
As a conductor John has a specialty in choral music and is the current Artistic Director of The Australian Voices. He has a particular passion for performing and promoting new music, having conducted over 50 world premieres.
Aside from his conducting and composing work, John is a sought after educator and performer as a organist, trombonist, choral bass, and piano accompanist, and is the organist and assistant director of music at historic Holy Trinity Church, Fortitude Valley, Brisbane.
