    HAYA Band

    Band (China)

A HAYA Band is an award-winning world music collective that reimagines traditional Mongolian sounds for a new era. Fusing ancient musical elements with innovative arrangements, the group has captivated global audiences with its evocative soundscapes and rich cultural storytelling.

At the heart of HAYA’s music is the hauntingly beautiful voice of Daiqing Tana, an ethnic Mongol singer-songwriter from Qinghai, China. Since joining as lead vocalist in 2006, she has played a vital role in shaping the band’s ethereal and deeply moving sound. Her mesmerising vocals seamlessly intertwine with the morin khuur (horse-head fiddle), tanbur, khoomei (throat singing), shaman drums, and ancient chants—each instrument carrying the weight of Mongolian heritage while embracing contemporary influences.

HAYA has earned international acclaim, with multiple prestigious awards including Best World Music Performance at the China Music Awards and the Taiwan Golden Melody Award for Best Crossover Music. Their album Silent Skies remains the best-selling soul/world music album in Taiwan, solidifying their status as one of the most influential voices in modern world music.

Through their spellbinding performances, HAYA transports listeners on a profound journey—one that evokes the vastness of the Mongolian grasslands, the depth of human emotion, and the timeless connection between nature and song. Their music is more than sound; it is an experience of transformation, bridging the past and the present, tradition and innovation.

Now, for the first time in Australia, Festival of Voices audiences have the opportunity to witness HAYA Band live, experiencing the magic of their music in an intimate and unforgettable setting.
