Festival of Voices

    AVÉ – Australian Vocal Ensemble

Four leading voices, one unforgettable performance

An exclusive Festival of Voices program showcasing highlights from AVÉ’s commissioned works by Australian composers, alongside music that pays homage to the rich traditions of vocal polyphony.

The Australian Vocal Ensemble brings together four of the country’s leading singers for a special Festival of Voices appearance, presenting a program drawn from some of the ensemble’s most celebrated repertoire. Featuring Katie Noonan, Hannah Fraser, Louis Hurley, and Andrew O’Connor, this intimate performance offers audiences a rare opportunity to experience the distinctive sound world that has shaped AVÉ since its founding in 2021.

Centred on vocal chamber music and the voices of contemporary Australian writers, the program features music set to the words of David Malouf, Trent Dalton and Gwen Harwood, bringing to life some of Australia’s most evocative poetry and storytelling. These works sit alongside music that reflects the traditions of a cappella singing, including AVÉ’s interpretations of vocal polyphony by Bach and Tomás Luis de Victoria.*

Founded by Artistic Director Dr Katie Noonan, AVÉ has quickly become one of Australia’s most dynamic vocal chamber ensembles. In just a few years, the ensemble has commissioned more than 60 new Australian vocal works, creating a vibrant and evolving repertoire that celebrates the country’s composers, writers and stories.

    Our pricing model

As a non-profit, we prioritise bringing singing and music to our communities, not maximising income. We work to make our ticket prices as affordable as possible, and we’ve shifted to an early bird pricing model instead of concession pricing. This change focuses on equity, allowing everyone to secure tickets at a reduced price and helping us keep the festival accessible to as many people as possible.

Each event will have a set number of tickets available at the early bird price. Once these are sold, standard prices will apply. This ensures we can cover event costs while keeping the festival sustainable and maintaining affordable options for our audiences.
