    Tom Thum

    Beatboxer & musician (QLD)

With more than half a billion views across his live performance videos, Tom Thum has cemented his status as one of the world’s most celebrated beatboxers. His extraordinary ability to warp, bend and transform the human voice has taken him to stages across the world and earned him accolades from audiences and critics alike.

Tom first captured global attention in 2013 with his now‑iconic TEDx performance at the Sydney Opera House. The 15‑minute showcase quickly became the most‑watched TEDx talk of all time, amassing more than 75 million views and introducing millions to his unparalleled vocal range.

An artist with an unstoppable drive for innovation, Tom constantly seeks new challenges. He created the world’s first “human‑synthesised band” for Google, performed a live beatbox endoscopy for TEDx, and collaborated with composer Gordon Hamilton to create Thum Prints; the world’s first 60‑minute beatbox concerto. Performed with leading symphony orchestras from Mumbai to Cologne, the project has also featured at the BBC Proms.

Tom’s vocal talents have been sought after by major brands including Pepsi, Audi, Virgin Australia and Sennheiser, and his artistic projects continue to grow. From developing an online beatboxing masterclass series to writing a children’s book and producing the first human‑made beatbox sample library, he shows no signs of slowing down.

Time Out New York described him as “a mic master who seems to have an orchestra living in his throat,” while The Guardian noted that he “appears to have swallowed an entire orchestra and several backing singers.” Celebrated for his virtuosity, humour and originality, Tom Thum continues to redefine what the human voice can achieve — and invites everyone to join him on the journey.
