
Betsy Hanson
Choir director & arranger (TAS)
Betsy Hanson is a dynamic Musician, Choir Director and Arranger based in Hobart who works with Community Choirs and DECYP in a re-engagement program with High School Students.
She has worked with many organisations including DECYP, Festival of Voices Mission Australia, MAC, Glenorchy City Council, and Cygnet Folk Festival developing a variety of music programs and events over the last 25 years to connect people to their own voice and to each other.
Betsy is an engaging teacher and brings a lightness, sense of humour and connectedness to all the programs and activities she develops and is involved in. She is passionate about dismantling barriers and creating greater access to creativity through listening and learning from individuals and groups to their specific needs and creating programs based on those needs and requirements.
Her work within the Community in the last 25 years was recognised in 2019 when she was a Tasmanian nominee in the Local Hero Category for the Australian of the Year in 2020.
