Pitches Be Crazy
Upper voice choir (TAS)
Pitches Be Crazy is a Hobart-based, non-auditioned a cappella ensemble for ladies and non-binary singers with high voices who want to swap the daily grind for harmonies, hilarity and human connection.
They’ve performed at a number of Festival of Voices, bringing their infectious energy and a healthy dose of cheek to whichever stage they’ve been assigned.
Meeting weekly, this vibrant group was founded with a very specific mission: to entice many community groups’ “missing demographic” (women in their 20s, 30s and 40s) to carve out 90 minutes a week dedicated to a fun activity just for themselves. An excuse for study, work and family responsibilities to be put shortly on pause for sanity maintenance purposes.
Its members do not show up weekly just to sing. They come for friendship. They come to build confidence. They come to laugh through the wrong notes and celebrate the right ones. They come to walk out of rehearsal lighter than they walked in.
Whether you’re a Hobartian juggling study, raising tiny humans, building a career, running a business or simply craving more connection with people your own age, Pitches Be Crazy is your leave pass from those constantly demanding your attention. No auditions. No pressure. Just voices, laughter and the often-chaotic magic that happens when attempting to re-create pop music as a collective using nothing, but sounds made by mouths (and the occasional body part).
