Festival of Voices

    Sing it A Cappella!

Discover the magic of unaccompanied harmony with renowned conductor Melissa Kenny

Join the vibrant celebration of vocal harmony with an inspiring a cappella workshop led by the dynamic Melissa Kenny, conductor of the award-winning Soulfood a Cappella. This immersive experience invites singers of all backgrounds to explore the boundless potential of the human voice without the aid of instruments.

With her trademark warmth and enthusiasm, Melissa Kenny creates a space that is both fun and deeply musical, encouraging participants to experiment, connect, and find their own unique sound within the group. Whether you’re a seasoned chorister or new to vocal ensemble singing, this workshop offers a rare opportunity to immerse yourself in the colour, rhythm, and joy of a cappella music, and to experience the thrill of voices uniting in perfect harmony.

To celebrate the outcome of the Sing it A Cappella! Workshop, participants will perform at the A Cappella Spectacular on Friday 10 July at Hobart’s Federation Concert Hall.

Get ready for an exciting mix of upbeat, fun, and energetic tunes you’re bound to know and love! Melissa’s repertoire features feel-good pop hits from the USA, Australia, and around the world, guaranteed to have you smiling, singing, and tapping along.

“Participating in Festival of Voices is one of the best musical experiences you can have in Australia – I have been to the festival numerous times and have always had such a blast hanging out with like-minded singers, experiencing everything on offer and of course creating wonderful music with others.

I would love you to join me for the 3-day a Cappella workshop in 2026, where we will hone our harmonic and rhythmic skills with a varied collection of contemporary songs from around the world, culminating in a performance in Hobart’s famous Federation Concert Hall. It’s going to be fun, engaging and fulfilling. I hope to see you there!”

    Our pricing model

As a non-profit, we prioritise bringing singing and music to our communities, not maximising income. We work to make our ticket prices as affordable as possible, and we’ve shifted to an early bird pricing model instead of concession pricing. This change focuses on equity, allowing everyone to secure tickets at a reduced price and helping us keep the festival accessible to as many people as possible.

Each event will have a set number of tickets available at the early bird price. Once these are sold, standard prices will apply. This ensures we can cover event costs while keeping the festival sustainable and maintaining affordable options for our audiences.
