    Darina Chakarova

    Darina Chakarova is a Bulgarian-born conductor based in Sydney, Australia. She fuses tradition with innovation, creating fresh, and inspiring musical experiences.  With a career spanning Europe and Australia, she is known for her dynamic leadership, innovative programming, and infectious passion for community singing. 

    As the Artistic Director of Adult Glee Club, one of Australia’s most vibrant and inclusive singing communities, Darina’s leadеrship brings together hundreds of voices to celebrate connection, joy, and artistry through song. 

    Before moving to Australia, Darina was Assistant Choir Director of the acclaimed Vassil Arnaudov Sofia Chamber Choir and the founder of Voiceland A Cappella Group in Bulgaria. She has also performed as a pianist and singer with the Classic FM Radio Choir, collaborating with major orchestras and guest conductors across Europe. 

    Her international experience includes serving on the Music Commission of the European Choral Association – Europa Cantat, adjudicating at the Ohrid Choir Festival in North Macedonia, and performing with the World Youth Choir on tours across Africa, Europe, and Asia. 

    Darina holds a Master’s degree in Choral Conducting from the National Academy of Music “Prof. Pancho Vladigerov” (Sofia, Bulgaria) and is a passionate advocate for the transformative power of group singing. Through her work, she continues to inspire singers of all backgrounds to find their voice, build community, and make music with heart.
