Ukrainian Choir
Choir (TAS)
Ukrainian Choir are a collective of Ukrainian refugees, members of the Tasmanian-Ukrainian community and those with Ukraine in their heart. Led by Hanna Ivanova, who came to Tasmania in 2022 as a refugee, and Crystal Livermore (a second generation Tasmanian-Ukrainian) the choir share their love of Ukrainian song and culture, from vibrant dance songs to heartfelt ballads.
Singing has long been a central feature of Ukrainian culture. Traditional folk music in particular has become a powerful symbol of Ukrainian identity in the face of unspeakable attempts to erase it. The choir aim to show that even in the darkest of times Ukrainian people and their culture remain strong and vibrant.
