Hillcrest Christian College John Williams Wind Orchestra

The John Williams Wind Orchestra is the most advanced concert band in Hillcrest Christian College’s Band program. This program, and the dedicated students it comprises of, have grown significantly over the past two years through competitions and interstate tours. The Festival of Voices poses a new and exciting chapter for this ensemble, with varied performance opportunities and collaborations.  

Last year the John Williams Wind Orchestra were awarded 2^nd place at the Gold Coast Eisteddfod, where their repertoire choices were a crowd favourite. Driven by their conductor’s love of famous film and television scores, The John Williams Wind Orchestra have become known for playing many tunes from both the big and small screen. Their program comprises scores from their namesake, as well as the likes of Hans Zimmer, John Powell, and Alan Silvestri. The John Williams Wind Orchestra has grown significantly in their ability and worked hard to expand their musicianship – tackling more challenging repertoire at every opportunity. These budding musicians rehearses weekly before school under the direction of Mr. Lachlan O’Keefe, with many also committed to weekly private tuition.
