Mendelssohn’s Oratorio Elijah

Led by one of the UK’s most versatile conductors, David Lawrence, this performance of Mendelssohn’s Elijah will feature world-class, Australian soloists Greta Bradman (soprano), Anna Dowsley (mezzo soprano), Henry Choo (tenor) and Christopher Richardson (bass baritone), the Hobart Chamber Orchestra and the Festival of Voices Youth Choir.

This concert will also mark the first performance of the Festival of Voices Choral Workshop Choir of 2017, comprised of more than 150 interstate and local voices. Mendelssohn’s Elijah was first performed at the Birmingham Festival in 1846 and it tells of the life of the prophet Elijah using words taken from the Psalms and Book of Kings in the Old Testament.
