Brahms Ein Deutsches Requiem

A German Requiem

Led by David Lawrence, one of the UK’s most versatile conductors, this performance of Brahms Ein Deutsches Requiem will be performed in the original language. Featuring world-class Australian soloists Jacqueline Porter (soprano) and Christopher Richardson (bass-baritone), and the Hobart Chamber Orchestra and friends.

This concert will also mark the first performance from the 2018 Choral Workshop Choir, comprising of over 120 interstate and local voices.

Considered to be one of the greatest choral and orchestral Requiem settings to be composed, A German Requiem sits alongside the settings of Verdi, Mozart and Fauré. Inspired by the death of his mother, a loss that caused him much grief, this masterpiece speaks to us all about loss.
