Boston Children’s Chorus and The Velvetones
Presented by Government House
Boston Children’s Chorus will arrive straight from Hobart airport to bring their distinctive sound to Government House. This internationally acclaimed ensemble brings young people together from across the Boston area to connect the city’s diverse community, and to use singing to work towards a more equitable and just society. The evening will provide selections from the choir’s 2018/19 season, and some previews of their She Persisted concert, focused on the role of women in the Civil Rights Movement. This is an exquisite, colourful and engaging ensemble, that combines joyful energy, intensity of communication, and powerful artistry.
Sharing the stage is The Velvetones – vibrant, versatile and velvetvoiced virtuosos. Inspired by the likes of Manhattan Transfer, The Andrews Sisters and The Real Group, this award-winning quartet perform everything from heart stirring jazz ballads to cheeky early Broadway ditties to hypnotise and delight.
