What is our Tasmanian Songbook?


What are the songs that define us? What do songs about Tasmania say about us? What are the stories we tell through song? This year’s Festival of Voices sees the beginning of a special project where we’ll amplify the legacy of Tasmanian songs and songwriters that are a part of our cultural soundscape and history.

Musical Director, Scott Targett, has assembled a stellar line-up of  performers to celebrate our ever-evolving Tasmanian songbook. You will hear both familiar and forgotten songs that were part of our lives spanning over five decades, as well as more recent work from our rising stars.

Who is involved?


Scott Targett is the Musical Director for the Tasmanian Songbook Project, which will feature guest singer songwriters including:

The Wolfe Brothers

Glenn Richards

Shane Howard

Monique Brumby accompanied by Steve Crump


Jed Appleton

Kartanya Maynard

and Seth Henderson.

They will be joined by band members Jethro Pickett on guitar, Casey Kostiuk on drums, Tom Wolfe on bass and Scott Targett on keys.

Festival of Voices is now a masked festival. Please bring a mask for every person in your group to this event. Persons 11 years and younger are exempted but encouraged to wear masks.


It is mandatory for all patrons to check in using the provided Check in TAS QR code at this event venue. If your device does not have QR-scanning capabilities, a member of your group is able to check you in as an additional person on their app. Otherwise, please speak to one of our staff to sign you in manually.


Our Festival venues undergo full sanitation before each show. To maintain our venue hygiene and sanitation practices, please have a spritz of sanitiser on your way in and make use of hand soap in the bathrooms.


Theatre Royal is thrilled to announce that they have successfully applied for an increase in capacity to 100%.


The approval of 100% capacity requires all patrons to attend at staggered arrival times. In addition to this, specific rows will be called via the PA system to make their way to the doors of their level at differing times, and to take their reserved seats. Your arrival times will be sent to you via email in the lead up to this event.


Alcohol will be served at this event. Under Public Health restrictions, you must be seated to consume alcohol in this venue.


To avoid any unnecessary transfer of germs, there will be no coat check facilities at this venue.


Please do not attend this event if you are experiencing flu symptoms (fever, cough, runny nose). Similarly, if you feel a cough or a sneeze coming on while in this venue, please use your elbow to cover it!
