Full Day Gospel Workshop with a Performance Outcome

Experience the healing power of singing with a very Gospel workshop presented by Maria Lurighi, Coordinator of Contemporary Voice at UTAS and Dr Andrew Legg, Australia’s foremost Gospel specialist.

This workshop will be ideal for singers interested in learning about performing Gospel and Soul music in a choir.

Gospel music is filled with visceral strength, touching the soul and never failing to lift the spirit. It is a tonic to move forward, no matter what.

Learn two powerful songs that honour the Gospel genre with the added joy of Dr Andrew Legg on piano!

Great God Great Praise by Kurt Carr; and Leanin’ written by Khristian Dentley (Take 6).

Once registered,  participants will receive music along with learning tracks to prepare in advance. The ticket price includes the invitation to perform alongside UTAS/Southern Gospel Ensemble in a Voices@5 Concert at Hobart’s Town Hall.

"I find great solace in choral rehearsals. There, people from all walks of life come together to surrender themselves to the whole; they come for communion hoping to perfect a unified sounds and for the promise of a deeply exhilarating musical experience. It can be transformative. It is healing."
