Memories & Mementos Workshop

Memories & Mementos Workshop

9 July | Federation Concert Hall  |  5pm - 9pm  |  Experienced Singers  |  $90 / $105 incl refreshments

A workshop of chorus favourites with David Lawrence

This workshop is an opportunity for all singers who enjoy participating in major classical works to come together and sing as a chorus, particularly as this has often not been possible in recent times. This will feature favourite oratorio choruses led by renowned UK conductor David Lawrence, a long time festival friend and contributor.
Aided by the magic of the internet, David will conduct you from London for a close encounter with four famous and popular choruses that you will want to relive. Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra Chorusmaster June Tyzack will assist singers in the Federation Concert Hall in a virtual experience with more than a touch of reality. Singers will be provided with signed copies of the scores as a memento.
Many of you will recall when David conducted Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Haydn’s Nelson Mass and Creation, and Mozart’s and Brahms’ Requiems. This workshop will give you a chance to revisit some of these beloved works and will feature four oratorio choruses.
As a souvenir of your experience with us, the workshop will be filmed and after the event, a private link will distributed for your viewing pleasure.
This workshop can be enjoyed as a standalone event OR as part of our Choral Suite 5-day Package.
Works to be sung are:
• Franz Joseph Haydn – The Heavens are Telling (from The Creation)
• Felix Mendelssohn – Thanks be to God (from Elijah)
• Johannes Brahms – Wie lieblich sind deine Wohungen (from Ein deutsches Requiem)
• Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart – Offertorium: Domine Jesu Christe; Hostias (from Requiem)
