Barbershop Basics Workshop

Barbershop Basics Workshop

Sun 4 July | Peacock Theatre  |  1:30pm - 3:30pm  |  All abilities  |  $45 / $60

A cappella singing with a difference! In this fun workshop you’ll discover why this dynamic style of singing is so much more than just striped suits and skimmer hats.

Hobart Harmony Director Jenni Pyefinch will introduce you to the basics of barbershop singing, a style characterised by its unaccompanied vocals and four-part harmonies. You will learn about the different vocal parts and have the opportunity to try each of them for size, seeing what suits you best. While most singing will be together and in large groups, there will be an opportunity for the keen ones to sing in groups of four- a true ‘Barbershop Quartet’ experience!

This one is open to all singers, but is best suited to those with some experience. Music reading skills not essential.
