ACABELLAS (VIC)

Acabellas comprises of four weekly singing groups across the Geelong and Bellarine region in Victoria. The groups are vivaciously led by Belinda Densley who is a passionate singing facilitator and a doctoral researcher on singing for wellbeing. Acabellas is thrilled to return for a third year to the Festival of Voices and to share in the collaborative energy of group singing. When Acabellas pops up to perform around Hobart they will be delighted to share original soulful works celebrating the post Covid-19 return to singing and the joyous refrains from a singer's heart. Other repertoire includes a mixture of popular and obscure contemporary folk songs and the odd interactive number to embrace all willing singers. We are women and men of all ages, drawn from four weekly groups so it will be fun and exhilarating to sing together for the very first time in this particular combination. Over the twenty years of Acabellas we have enjoyed many singing projects from supporting social justice events, participating in massed choral projects and even recording an album of original material as a group of 90! Mostly though, we sing to exhale, to connect and to revel in a heartfelt soundtrack to life on earth.

DISCIPLES OF SOUL (TAS)

Disciples of Soul is a vocal ensemble comprised of students from the UTAS Conservatorium. United by their passion for Gospel music, the students rehearse relentlessly throughout the semester to provide an exciting and uplifting program so good that even the alumni singers come back to be a part of it!

UPLIFT (TAS)

Under the leadership of Tasmanian songstress Audrey Lonergan Rowe from The Clementines, we bring together her weekly choirs to share a collection of songs celebrating love, peace, family and the joy of community singing in harmony.
